The Violinist Acevedo took this photo of violinist Keith Berry
playing at the Lhasa Club, in Los Angeles, sometime in 1983. Keith went
on to tour with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. On this night he was playing
with local club hero called Hollywood Joe. This image was composed after
hours in 1996 at the GMK graphics service bureau located on West 28th
Street. This was from the first group of works that opened Acevedo's New
York City period. It employs the first collection of geometry created
in the SVA lab early in that year. One of the features in this work is
the perceptual shift that happens when your eye toggles between the figure
and the geometry. This is a visualization of the structure of sound as
generated by a musician standing in the structure he's generating. |
